Inter Milan are pushing to end the race for the Serie A name so they can reach the Champions League.
This is the opinion of today’s print edition of the Roman newspaper Corriere dello Sport, FCInterNews.
Inter took a step forward in their search for the name last night in Via del Mare.
To Juventus’ impressive victory over Frosinone, the Nerazzurri responded with their own victory, against Lecce, with a resounding 4-0.
That means Inter end the week with their nine-point merit over the Bianconeri intact. And that’s with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, AC Milan drew with Atalanta at home. That Inter are 13 points ahead of their city rivals, with a game in hand.
Inter are still mathematically unguaranteed.
There are still 3 months left in the league. And opportunities to make mistakes.
Inter are enjoying the bitter experience of the 2021-22 season, when they quit the league in the spring to allow Milan back into the title race to reflect.
But it turns out that’s precisely why the Nerazzurri seem so determined not to let their foot go for the time being.
Even with a team in a lot of rotation, Inter threw everything at Lecce to get rid of 3 more problems yesterday.
This Inter team perceives the opportunity to create an even more decisive advantage.
And that could allow the team to fully qualify for the Champions League.
As long as the name race with Juventus is on Inter’s minds, the team won’t be able to turn completely into their European adventure.
But the closer Inter mathematically get to winning the Scudetto, the more they can start thinking about some other deep run in the Champions League as a priority.
