Inter Milan will sign Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson this summer if striker Marko Arnautovic leaves the club.
This is reported in today’s print edition of the Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, FCInterNews.
Gudmundsson is a player who is very much on Inter’s radar this summer. It’s a big secret.
The Nerazzurri consider that the former AZ Alkmaar striker has the right profile for their attack with other qualities in addition to the strikers in the squad lately.
And for his part, Gudmundsson needs to sign for Inter.
The question is whether the Nerazzurri will take a step in favour of Gudmundsson’s work.
Icelandic will be cheap. Reports indicate that Genoa will demand a payment of about 30 million euros for him.
Currently, Inter have 4 veteran strikers in their squad.
There are, of course, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, starters for last season’s first team.
Then, Mehdi Taremi arrives loose from Oporto. Se expects Alexis Sanchez to leave through the exit door when the contract of the 35-year-old former Arsenal and Barcelona veteran expires.
But there is former West Ham United and Stoke City striker Arnautovic.
Arnautovic arrived at Inter this summer from Bologna.
And the Austrian has signed a two-year contract, which expires at the end of June.
According to La Gazzetta, while Arnautovic is at the club, Inter will invest in Gudmundsson as a fifth striker.
The Nerazzurri’s plan would not be to start next season with five strikers competing for the starting spots. If Arnautovic stays, they probably wouldn’t spend much on another striker.
On the other hand, if the Nerazzurri were to sell the 35-year-old, they would be willing to do so for the Icelander.
