No. 2 Notre Dame won a place in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game because the league calendar replaced Tuesday to create an open date for Fighting Irish and No. four Clemsons before his most likely rematch on December 19.
The ACC has announced that Notre Dame’s match against Wake Forest, which was postponed until 12 December after being postponed until the end of September, will not be played. The Irishman (9-0, 8-0 ACC) receives Syracuse on Saturday to end its normal season. Notre Dame has every tiebreaker imaginable about the finalists named Clemson (8-1, 7-1) and Miami (7-1, 6-1) even if he loses to Syracuse.
Clemson’s postponed game at Florida State won’t be stuck either. The Tigers can take a place in the championship game with a win at Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Notre Dame beat Clemson in South Bend, Indiana, last month in doubles and both are well placed to participate in school football playoffs if they enter the ACC name game without additional defects in their records.
Clemson’s victory in the rematch can send anyone to the PSC semi-finals. Normally independent in football, Notre Dame joined THE ACC this season after the pandemic forced elementary school football meetings to radically replace their schedules.
Miami no. 9 can still earn a spot in the ACC championship game if Clemson loses. The Hurricanes will play Duke on Saturday and against North Carolina on December 12.
If Miami is unsuccessful in the ACC championship game, it will play Georgia Tech at home on December 19.
Florida State, which has had three consecutive postponements due to COVID-19 issues, is now scheduled to receive Duke on December 12 and play Wake Forest on December 1.
Wake Forest will play in Louisville on December 12, now that his Game Notre Dame has been canceled.
