Irish winger Mikey Johnston leaves Celtic for West Brom | Waterford News & Stars

Irish foreigner Mikey Johnston has left Celtic on loan to join West Brom while Brendan Rodgers cuts his squad.

Marco Tilio joined Melbourne City on loan on Wednesday and David Turnbull was expected to stay with both Celtic Park wingers, with Cardiff hoping to complete a permanent move for the midfielder.

Celtic had yet to announce the signing of Norwich and Republic of Ireland striker Adam Idah on loan when the transfer window came to an end hours after the 22-year-old’s arrival in Glasgow on Wednesday.

Rangers are expected to complete the signing of 20-year-old Colombian winger Oscar Cortés, on loan from Lens with an option to buy following his arrival in Glasgow.

The Light Blues appear to have been frustrated in their attempt to sign Brazilian left-back Jefte from Fluminense, with loan club APOEL Nicosia attempting to retain him until the end of the campaign.

However, uncertainty remains over the future of Gers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz, with Galatasaray said to be preparing an offer.

Reports from Italy also claim that Hellas Verona are making an offer to sign striker Cyriel Dessers.

Kevin van Veen heads to Kilmarnock after the Ayrshire club defended the Motherwell and St Mirren festival for the Dutch striker.

Van Veen, who scored 29 goals for Motherwell last season, has revealed that he will sign on loan from Killie until the end of the season.

Motherwell failed to get the player back after failing to meet the monetary contribution from Killie and St Mirren, and Rugby Park were willing to pay the bulk of his salary to Groningen.

The 32-year-old scored five goals earlier this season but lost his place in the team after a disagreement with the manager and was keen to return to Scotland to be with his family.

Hibernian have signed two 20-year-old centre-backs, Nectarios Triantis from Sunderland and Owen Bevan from Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.

Dundee loaned out Norwich goalkeeper Jon McCracken after an era of transience came to a halt in August following the signing of Trevor Carson.

Midfielder David Carson has joined Livingston on an 18-month contract from Inverness, while Motherwell has agreed a loan deal for Rangers full-back Adam Devine and Ross County is expected to announce an overdue transfer.

St Johnstone have announced the signing of 25-year-old striker Adama Sidibeh for an undisclosed club via Northern Premier League Warrington Rylands. Jay Turner-Cooke ended his loan spell in Perth and returned to Newcastle.

Aberdeen reportedly failed in their overdue efforts to sign a centre-back while Hearts were wrapping up their affairs before the deadline.

Off the more sensible flight, Queen’s Park head coach Callum Davidson believes he pulled off “a bit of a knock” by signing former Liverpool, Rangers and Scotland defender Danny Wilson, 32, from Colorado Rapids.

Lowland League side Albion Rovers sold striker Joe Bevan to Premier League Burnley for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year-old scored 15 goals for Rovers after joining from Camelon 12 months ago.
