The adventure of Italian cycling at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games officially begins today. This morning, in fact, a first organization of Italian athletes departed, and other outings will be maintained in the coming days, as the cycling program extends to the entire Olympic period. This morning, Tuesday, July 23, Filippo Ganna, Alberto Bettiol and Elisa Longo Borghini arrived at the Games venue, where they will participate in the time trials on July 27, together with cyclists Martina Berta, Chiara Teocchi, Luca Braidot and Simone Avondetto. Array who will compete at Elancourt Hill on July 28 (women) and July 29 (men).
On July 27, Pietro Bertagnoli will leave to participate in the BMX race qualifications on August 1; semi-finals and final the next day. On July 31, the road organization will leave with Elena Cecchini, Silvia Persico, Elisa Balsamo, Luca Mozzato and Elia Viviani, who will even be in the pre-Olympic in Val di Fassa.
They will be received by Alberto Bettiol and Elisa Longo Borghini. The men’s road race is scheduled for August 3, starting and finishing at Trocadéro, from 11:00 a. m. to 6:15 p. m. The women’s race will take place on August 4, starting at 2:00 p. m. and will finish around 6:45 p. m. The last cycling contingent that will leave for Paris, on the night of August 1, will be the track group, formed by Jonathan Milan, Francesco Lamon, Simone Consonni, Manlio Moro, Filippo Ganna (who will return to Italy after the time trial to finish his preparation in Montichiari), Vittoria Guazzini, Chiara Consonni, Martina Fidanza, Martina Alzini, Letizia Paternoster, Miriam Vece and Sara Fiorin.
Elia Viviani and Elisa Balsamo are already in place, coming from road races. The on-track tournament will take place at the Saint Quentin Velodrome in Yvelines from August 5 to 11. On the first day, the protective quartet will be called upon to protect their name with the qualifications of persecution. The next day, it will be the day of the Italian Rocket Girls. The names will be awarded on August 7. On August 8, the men’s Open and the women’s Keirin will take position. On August 9, the female name Madison will be awarded, followed by the male occasion the following day. On the last day of the festival (August 11), the female names Dash and Omnium will be awarded.
