Italian club Roma was sold to an American advertising consortium Friedkin Group for 591 million euros (about $700 million).
On a Wednesday, Roma said the club agreed with The Friedkin Group to sell the club, saying that “the transaction is valued at around 591 million euros.”
“I must verify that we have reached an agreement with the Friedkin Group for the sale of AS Roma,” said Italian club president Jim Pallotta.
Pallotta added that the parties have signed contracts and will complete the legal process in the coming days.
“We are all very pleased with the Friedkin Group to have taken the obligatory steps to be part of this iconic city and club. We look forward to complete the acquisition as soon as possible and dive into the AS Roma family,” The Friedkin said. The group’s CEO, Dan Friedkin.
Friedkin Group is a personal business and investment consortium in Houston, Texas, and is “one of the world’s largest independent Toyota suppliers.”
The organization invests in luxury resorts.
According to prominent business magazine Forbes, 55-year-old U.S. entrepreneur Dan Friedkin has a net profit of $4.1 billion.
One of the most important football clubs in Europe, Roma won the name of the Italian Serie A three times in 1942, 1983 and 2001.
The team has won Italian Cups in history. Roma last won the trophy in 2008.
