One back, inbound.
The New England Patriots placed second-year fullback Damien Harris on Monday on the disabled reserve list and promoted uns recruited rookie JJ Taylor to the team.
Harris, who allegedly underwent finger surgery last week and hasn’t practiced since, can return to the list of 53 men after 3 weeks. The third-round pick in the 2019 draft seemed like a possible starter before his injury.
Taylor also performed well in the camp. At five feet and 6 inches, Patriots midfield coach Ivan Fears nicknamed him “Little Dion” in reference to former New England fullback Dion Lewis.
“Same speed, same speed,” Fears said halfway through the education camp. “(Taylor is) a big fan, the guy has a great vision. Oh, there’s a lot of (improper) stuff that’s smart about it. . . . We’re very happy with what we saw of him, we are. We’ll see how far it can go. “
Taylor averaged 5. 6 yards consistent with the four-season drag in Arizona and hit a career-high 32 passes for 289 yards as a senior in 2019.
With Taylor now on board, this is the consecutive New England season with at least one UDFA on his list.
The Patriots also placed a defensive shot on Beau Allen in the IR on Monday and promoted rookie supporter Cassh Maluia (sixth round) to the practice team.
New England is expected to point to un recruited recipients Mason Kinsey and Kristian Wilkerson to fill their two vacancies on the team.
