Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed admiration for Jack Grealish, whom he says England is “very lucky” to be attractive.
After very well in Aston Villa’s remarkable 7–2 win over Liverpool on 4 October, Grealish inspired England in the 3-0 win over Wales four days later.
It was then an unused replacement for the two League of Nations games that followed, the 2–1 win over Belgium and the 1-0 defeat to Denmark, which he questioned through experts and supporters.
Giving his opinion on Leicester striker Grealish to welcome Villa on Sunday, Rodgers said: “England have so many players.
“But I, England, am very fortunate to have Jack’s talent. I saw the innovations in him growing up as a young player. “
“His personality in the area is fantastic. It has a built-in genuine brain for football.
“When he carries the ball, his awareness of his area shows me how skill he is. He understands where the area is, he’s very tackled, he stays on the ball a little longer than the others and throws fouls but he also attracts people, out of position, his weight of passage is exceptional.
“He is a glorious player and one of the many players in England who are very talented. He’s a bit like James (Maddison, Leicester’s midfielder), they’re not in the same position. “
The beating of Liverpool, Premier League champion, has made nine numbers out of nine imaginable so far this season for Dean Smith’s Villa.
Leicester also scored the top problems after three games, after winning 3-0 at West Brom, beating Burnley 4-2 and knocking out Manchester City 5-2 at Etihad Stadium, before losing 3-0 at home to West Ham last time.
Rodgers, whose team finished fifth last season, said: “The West Ham game is another lesson for us in the Premier League where if you’re out of your game, you can lose.
“But in all four games, there have been many positives for us.
“You get hit along the way, and that’s how you react to that. I don’t think we’d see that functionality coming (against West Ham). I know we’re bitterly disappointed after that.
“It was complicated because players then spend a mission abroad. But we’ve regrouped and we’re going on to be hunting to get back to the level.
“We show a lot of potential, but can we achieve that consistency in our game? It’s a purpose for us this season. “
Regarding Villa, he added: “They have players who can challenge him if you are not the most sensible in your game. They scored seven [against Liverpool] and felt they could only have had one or two more.
“It showed that you have to have that general concentration at this point or any team can punish you. No one sees the effects coming, it was like us the week before in Manchester City. If you’re not the sensible thing about your game” at this point, it can take off. “
While Maddison is fit for Sunday, Caglar Soyuncu and Daniel Amartey have been sidelined for injuries, and Jonny Evans, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Praet are being evaluated. Wesley Fofana could make his debut for the Foxes.
