Jadon Sancho has secured a move away from Manchester United, with his return to Borussia Dortmund officially confirmed.
The winger has been exiled at United for much of this season after falling out with Erik ten Hag, and there is no indication that Sancho is likely to return to the first team.
United said Sancho “leaves with our best wishes for the remainder of this season” in a statement on their website.
The 23-year-old joined Dortmund on loan and returned to the club he left in the summer of 2021 to join United in a £73m deal.
Sancho said: “When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like ‘coming home’.
“I know the club inside and out, I have been very close to the fans here and I have never lost contact with the directors.
“I can’t wait to see my teammates again, pass out on the field, play football with a smile on my face, make passes, score passes and contribute to qualifying for the Champions League. “

Sancho has scored 38 Bundesliga goals in 104 appearances for Dortmund but has failed to consistently show his best form since returning to England.
He has controlled just six goals and six assists in 58 Premier League games and has played just 77 minutes of football for United this season.
Sancho was left out of United’s squad for their clash with Arsenal in September and has not played since, after Ten Hag criticised his performances in training. Sancho responded to his coach’s comments and insisted that he had a “scapegoat. “
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said: “Jadon is surely another player and I can’t wait to see him back in black and yellow.
“Although he hasn’t played any competitive games in recent months, we are confident that he will temporarily adapt to us, get fit and use his qualities to help us achieve our goals for the season. “
