Jadon Sancho will fly to pass Borussia Dortmund’s medical and end Manchester United’s exile

Jadon Sancho’s loan move from Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund is near to being finalised.

The 23-year-old winger will fly to Germany in the next 48 hours to pass his medical and sign a contract to return to his former club.

United are expected to shell out around £3. 5m for the six-month loan and have to pay around 60 per cent of his £250,000-a-week salary.

However, Dortmund would arguably have to pay more bonuses depending on their performance.

Since September, Sancho has been away from United’s first team following a falling out with Erik ten Hag.

His last appearance for United came in August and he hasn’t started a competitive match since the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City last season.

Sancho refused to apologise to Ten Hag, extending his exile to 4 months.

United rejected offers from Dortmund and Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq on the deadline when they demanded £65m, and have since scaled back their demands.

Sancho is believed to have maintained his compatibility and hopes to train with Dortmund this week when they begin the second part of their season in Darmstadt on Saturday.

He returns to Dortmund after gaining notoriety for four years at the Westfalenstadion, winning the German Super Cup and DFB-Pokal before earning £73 million at Old Trafford.

The German giants have underperformed this season and sit fifth in the Bundesliga standings.

Dortmund are also set to announce the signing of Ian Maatsen on loan from Chelsea, with Champions League qualification a key target.
