Jamal Crawford plans to return for the 2020-21 NBA season at age 41

Jamal Crawford played the six minutes of the 2019–2020 NBA season. That said, he doesn’t think his career is over.

The veteran escort told Marc Stein of the New York Times that he plans to return for the 2020–21 season. Crawford will turn 41 in March next year and be the oldest player on the list this season (behind vince Carter, recently retired).

The Brooklyn Nets signed Crawford, who had signed the entire regular season, to their playoff list amid injury before traveling to Orlando. He played only one game before a hamstring injury left him out for the rest of the Brooklyn postseason games and his playoff appearance.

While he can’t show off his skills on the field, Crawford said he’s pleased to be part of the NBA’s social justice message from Orlando.

“We had to draw a lot of attention to the social injustices that were happening and give other people some comfort to turn on tv and watch the games,” Crawford said.

Crawford said he expected the Nets to bring him back next season, when they expected Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to return to line-up. Durant missed the entire 2019–20 season by rehabilitating a damaged Achilles tendon, and Irving was limited to 20 games due to injury.

In his final full NBA season, Crawford averaged 7.9 issues and 3.6 assists while shooting 39.7% with the Phoenix Suns in 2018-19.
