James Maddison pinches himself over how things are going at Tottenham, and there’s an undeniable message from his manager in all of this.
Maddison has been one of Ange Postecoglou’s key signings and his seven goals in nine appearances have helped propel Spurs to the top of the Premier League table. The Australian manager has won hearts and minds since leaving Celtic and his players have embraced him from day one. And Maddison says it’s partly due to an undeniable demand he made of them in one of his first workouts: “Be a fair user and we’re going to get along. “The game creator told talkSPORT: “He came in here and had his way of betting and his methods. The way he needs us to exercise day in and day out is contagious.
“There isn’t a day when you can faint without enthusiasm. Every day and every educational consultation is intense, it’s hard and it’s their way, yet we reap the fruits in a Saturday box.
“The boss is first and foremost a smart man. The first thing he said to us on one of his early days was, “Be a righteous human being and we’ll get along. “This is one of your ethical values and you can see it in the way you behave and talk to people. He is an intelligent man.
“It’s open, fair and straight to the point. It’s very direct and we’re not kidding. It’s just refreshing. You don’t need managers who convey combined messages and have favorites. He is an intelligent and hardworking man. Man, this is the foundation on which you base your teams. It’s contagious for us players.
