James Ward-Prowse new 5-year contract in Southampton

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has written a new contract to tie the Saints until 2025.

The 25-year-old, whose previous contract was two years ahead, played every minute of the Southampton Premier League crusade this year and inherited Pierre-Emile Hujbjerg’s captain’s armband after the Dane admitted his preference to leave the club towards the final crusade.

While his importance to the team grew, manager Ralph Hasenh-ttl was eager to protect Ward-Prowse’s long-term to make sure he stayed to help the club move in the right direction.

“I think everyone knows this is a club close to my heart,” he said on the club’s official website.”I started here at 8 years old and only had this purpose of signing up for the first team, and my appreciation for the club is very great, because the other people who make it up and the infrastructure for me made my dream of a young man looking to play professional football came true.

“I feel like this is an exciting time for us. I think we’ve regained our identity as a team and I think we’re going in the right direction where we think we can pass as a club.The infrastructure and the other people here to make that happen, and now it’s up to us to move on to the paintings hard over the next few weeks and make sure we start the season as we finished last.

A graduate of the academy, Ward-Prowse has amassed 278 appearances for the Saints in all competitions, racking up 24 and 33 assists.

“I’ve already said that Prowsey is a player representing everything Southampton Football Club stands for,” Hasenh-ttl added.

“It’s not just his story of having evolved as a player here, but also the commitment and attitude he shows in his work.He wasn’t betting so much when I arrived, but he listened and worked on each and every facet of his game., and that’s why he’s reached the point where he’s now.

“He has a hobthrough for the club that everyone knows, and he has a reputation among everyone here.I know it’s a role-playing style for our young players in particular, and those are all the reasons why it’s been the right selection to be a long player” Captain at the end of this team and this club.
