Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool striker Anthony Gordon that he could get a “tasty” reception at Goodison Park if he swaps Newcastle for the Anfield giants. Liverpool are signing the 23-year-old English winger less than two years after joining the Magpies from Everton.
Gordon had a sensational campaign last time out, scoring goals and 10 assists in 35 Premier League appearances.
He also earned a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad, despite playing only as a late replacement in the Three Lions’ final organizational match against Slovenia.
Carragher asked via Sky Sports about the reception Gordon might be expecting from Liverpool enthusiasts given that he is betting on arch-rivals Everton. And the former defender replied: “It wouldn’t be a problem. It might be tasty at Goodison Park, but it would all be good. “it will be fine for him.
Carragher also explained: “Anthony Gordon would be a signing for any team, he has been a wonderful signing for Newcastle.
“I can’t believe he hasn’t played more minutes than at Euro 2024. He had the idea that we needed rhythm in attack and he added it. I’ve known Anthony for a long time because he doesn’t live too far from me. I know some of his relatives, so I’m a big fan of Anthony Gordon.
“If Newcastle have problems with PSR (profit and sustainability rules), I would like Liverpool to be at the front of the queue [queue for Gordon] because he can be a genuine and sensible player, he can take it to the level. “
