Brendan Rodgers does not aim to protect Leicester striker Jamie Vardy from the rigours of the FA Cup after his recent groin operation.
The Foxes are in third place in the Premier League after Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Wolves, and receive Brighton in fifth in the FA Cup on Wednesday before travelling to Slavia Prague in the last 32 Europa League in 10 days.
But despite the busy schedule, Rodgers will be tempted to give rest to the striker, who missed three games due to injury before returning as a replacement in the second half of Sunday’s draw.
“Wednesday is a great match for us. He hasn’t lost much shape, that’s the reality. It has a very clever shape point,” Rodgers said.
“Clearly he had the 10 days off, he had trained a little with the team and then we gave him the part hour.
“You can see what it brings to the team. We’ll definitely give you a few minutes on Wednesday, either in the first part of the game or in the part of the moment, so you’ll play at some point. “
With a position in the quarter-finals at stake, Rodgers will seek a balance between managing your players’ workload and doing enough to progress.
“We’ll make adjustments, but it’ll be an 11. We have to take a look at match month and early start [against Liverpool on Saturday].
“I’m also going to take a look at one or two of our talented young players. I think it’s a good time to integrate them.
“With young players, you never know until you put them on. It’s something we’ve been doing all season, but we have to make it to the quarter-finals. “
Defenseman Timothy Castagne is not yet in a position to recover from a ham ham tendon injury that has kept him out of the last two games.
The foxes boss added: “It’s probably a week to ten days. Clearly he works well with the medical team, but there’s still some time. “
