Jarrett Stidham’s first fights at the education camp may have been health-related.
New England Patriots quarterback “struggled with the discomfort of a leg injury,” Ian Rapoport and NFL Media’s Mike Giardi reported Friday morning.
Stidham is not expected to participate “much, if he does” at the unseeded educational camp on Friday.
“(Patriots) will continue cautiously,” Rapoport tweeted.
Stidham will provide in practice on Friday.
After slightly dividing the reps with the other quarterbacks, Cam Newton and Brian Hoyer, in the Patriots’ first 3 practices this week, Stidham saw his workload drop on Thursday. He attempted only six passes in competitive 7-on-7 and 11-11 training, compared to 15 for Hoyer and 17 for Newton.
Stidham infrequently inspired his Patriots educational camp, but launched twice as many interceptions (six) as Newton (two) and Hoyer (one) together. The 2019 fourth-round pick yielded two consecutive rep picks in limited action on Thursday.
Nick Stevens of WEEI was the first to announce news of an injury at Stidham, which he said could leave the 24-year-old for a “predictable future.”
