The green and gold jockey groups that contributed to the race two waves of the COVID-19 pandemic are about to dissolve.
Racing Victoria made the announcement Friday afternoon after the previous week with the Victorian Jockeys’ Association.
This is one of many adjustments to the COVID-19 protocols of the race, adding the return of official tests.
The move comes less than 24 hours after Racing Victoria announced that a limited number of owners can return to the metropolitan slopes, starting with Saturday’s assembly at Sandown.
The existing COVID-19 weight scale in racing will continue until the end of December, hoping to return to generality in the new year.
Jockey groups will end on Sunday night, but they will still have an adequate distance and there will be limits on the number of rooms on the jockey premises.
The restriction on the number of places where riders and track runners can ride will be removed.
The resumption of the official trials has been approved on a limited basis in Tatura on November 23.
First, the occasions will be limited to certain categories of horses (2 years, 3 years, undefeated horses of all ages and horses under embargo pending certification) with a maximum of 12 horses according to the trainer.
A new schedule will be published via VR in the next fortnight with two series of official tests to be scheduled on average month in the initial phase.
Protocols that restrict site breaks to trained horses only are subject to continuous review and remain unchanged.
RV general manager Giles Thompson said he was pleased that the race had reached a point where he could facilitate some protocols.
“I would also like to specifically thank our Racing Clubs, who helped implement and manage protocols on race days and our riders, especially Green Team members, who made significant sacrifices in 2020 to deliver industry characteristics in the advent of a case or group,” Thompson said.
“While it is wonderful that we can facilitate certain protocols, I need to implore everyone to avoid complacency. If you or someone you live with suffers, stay home, let us know and get tested. ensure that you maintain an adequate social distance.
“In the future, we will continue to review all of our biosecurity protocols each week, either to ensure the safe continuity of careers and to take into account the adjustments announced through state governments, i. e. with respect to border closures. interstate travel. “
