Jon Matthews Architects has presented plans to upgrade a four-story construction and car parking lot in Manchester with two towers connected through a greenhouse with an “exotic plantation. “

The local practice, which was established two years ago, applied to city council for permission to deliver the progression of 80 million pounds to One City Road near Manchester’s South A57 (M) ring road.

The assignment would involve the structure of a 14-story tower and an 11-story structure to supply approximately 35,000 square meters of space, as well as businesses on the ground floor and terraces on the most sensitive floor.

Winter gardens are designed to provide herbal ventilation on the floor, while the central atrium between buildings would house exotic tree species.

The program would have 3 parking lots and is designed to inspire sustainable travel. Cyclists entered construction through compromised entrances leading to a motorcycle shop with dual-stacking motorcycle racks, conversion rooms, showers, drying rooms, lockers and motorcycle workshops.

It points to an excellent BREEAM score. Sustainability features come with hot air pumps and low flow sanitary facilities.

A modular facade has been designed to act as a solar shutter and structural element, eliminating the need for metal in buildings.

Jon Matthews Architects stated in the drawing documents that the concept of facade “starts with a rigorous mathematical grid. “

“An orthogonal design just made of solids and voids creates the architectural rhythm of the facade,” the practice added. “Similar to the art of Kirigami, where the artist transforms a sheet of flat paper into a finished sculpture, the structural grid will be folded into a winding facade to integrate the construction into context with sensitivity and power. “

Project backer and main contractor Marshall CDP owns the existing low-rise office block on the site and the adjacent surface-level car park.

The planning documents added that the plan would “strengthen existing connections and street edges, maintaining adequate separation with neighboring residential buildings to respect views and privacy. “

A date has not been set for councillors in the application.
