A preview of what’s in European football on Tuesday:
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
The competition will resume on Tuesday in the 3rd qualifying stage and Belgian runner-up Gent will be ready thanks to fired coach Laszlo Bologna on Monday.
Bologna had only 25 days and 3 games in rate before the club intervened with Rapid Vienna in a one-stage tiebreaker.
Three matches are scheduled, all finalists in their national leagues last season: PAOK Thessaloniki receives Benfica, the normal player of the organizing phase, and Dynamo Kyiv is home to AZ Alkmaar.
AZ, perhaps the most unfortunate team at the start of the pandemic, was defeated by the Name of Holland by difference of purpose through Ajax when the season was interrupted.
All UEFA qualifiers are played without spectators, adding Dynamo, the cavernous Olympic Stadium that hosted the 2018 final. Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3–1.
Tuesday’s winners will advance to the two-game playoff circular next week, which will complete the draw for the 32-team organizing level on October 1. Five more games in the third qualifying circular will take place on Wednesday.

Premier League clubs entered the English League Cup at the circular time during the first of three consecutive weeks of action at the start of the reformed national calendar.
The concentrate will be at West Ham, which started the season with a 2-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday after a off-season in which the club struggled to secure primary signings.
Newcastle, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are also in action opposing the decline of opponents in the league. Newcastle and Palace won the league this weekend, while Villa was in action.

Rounds two, 3 and 4 are played early, and in successive weeks, they extend throughout the first part of the season in a pandemic-induced replacement to a typical festival schedule. There will be no extra time in the first five rounds.
The January semi-finals will be played in a circular of two.

Lyon to Montpellier in his last Ligue 1 recovery match after starting last season due to the team’s race to the Champions League semi-finals last month.
This will be the third game of the Lyon Crusade, has won a win and a draw, and will update Rudi Garcia’s team in terms of matches.
