JORNADA: Mourinho starts the first full season with Tottenham

A preview of what’s in European football on Sunday:

England

Jose Mourinho is his first full season at the helm of Tottenham with a home game against Everton in the Premier League.

This marks the beginning of a busy start to a season already crowded for the Spurs, who are also qualifying for the Europa League.

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti will have which of his three recent recruits, James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure, start his team’s first match.

The setting sees West Bromwich Albion play their first Premier League match after promotion of the Championship, with Leicester as a visitor.

spain

Manuel Pellegrini plays his first official match at Real Betis on Sunday when his host Alavés played in Seville.

Pellegrini returns to Spain after a decade. Previously, former Manchester City coach coach coached Real Madrid, Malaga and Villarreal in Spain.

Valencia also receives in a derby to the Levante, the Real Sociedad Valladolid and the newly promoted Huesca is in the Villarreal.

The champions of Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Seville have all their matches in the first two postponed rounds to give them an extra break later in Europe in August.

Germany

Last season’s defeated finalist, Bayer Leverkusen, starts the season with a home game against fourth-placed Eintracht Norderstedt in the first of the German Cup.

This will be Leverkusen’s first match without influential players Kai Havertz and Kevin Volland after their departures to Chelsea and Monaco respectively, Peter Bosz’s team having Patrik Schick, who played on loan in Leipzig last season.

Between the matches, Hoffenheim visited Chemnitzer FC, St. Pauli faced SV Elversberg and Hansa Rostock received Stuttgart.

Matches will be played with none or a number of fans due to measures contrary to the new coronavirus.

Schalke was due to receive the Bavarian team from Schweinfurt, but the adjustment was cancelled on Friday following a complaint from Munich, who claims to play for Schalke because he was the leader of the striker of Schweinfurt’s local regional league when the department resumed after his pandemic. The Bavarian football government had already promoted the French national team to the third department for the new season, making Schweinfurt the most productive Bavarian amateur team at the time of the cup.

France

Neymar is expected to play a role in Paris Saint-Germain’s home game against Marseille’s fierce rivals on Sunday after recovering from the coronavirus.

Angel Di Maria, goalkeeper Keylor Navas and midfielder Leandro Paredes are also in the call for adjustment at the Parc des Princes after recovery.

They were among six PSG players who tested positive for COVID-19 after a club pass to Ibiza, the other two being Captain Marquinhos and striker Mauro Icardi. They are not part of the team and Kylian Mbappé, who contracted the virus in the foreign service with France last week, is not.

PSG is undefeated in 20 matches against Marseille, the French team that has won the Champions League.

In matches, Monaco receives Nantes, Rennes travels to Nimes and Lille confronts Metz.
