Head coaches Karen Hills and Juan Amorós have named Josie Green as the new captain of the Spurs Women, following the retirement of former Captain Jenna Schillaci in June.
International Wales, Josie has been at the Club since 2016 and is one of the oldest in our team.
Our vice-captain last season, the 27-year-old signed a new two-year contract in June after her first professional season at the Barclays FA Women’s Super League (WSL), where she played 14 league games.
During her time at the club, Josie was one of the groups that won the quadruple in the 2016/17 season and promotions to the FA and WSL Women’s Championship.
Josie said: “It is a great privilege and an honor for me to be appointed captain of this wonderful football club and it is a proud moment for me and my family.”
“I am very proud to lead by example on and off the field. I lived as vice-captain and led the team in some games last season, and I hope to build and advance the team this season.”

Karen said: “Josie has made an incredible affair with the club and has stepped forward, took office and was rightly appointed vice-captain last season and we are proud to call him now our captain. She seeks to elevate the criteria in and out of the area for herself and her teammates. It is a style that brings positivity through the ups and downs and its speed of paint on the ground is unmatched: it contributes one hundred percent and that’s what we expect from our leader.”
John said: “I’m incredibly proud of Josie. He’s been through a lot of demanding situations and adjustments in recent seasons. She has played in all divisions and has been a key player for us, who fully understands our values and what last season did a fantastic task supporting Jenna, so the move to the rank of captain was natural.
Josie will be supported in her role as captain of the club through senior players Becky Spencer, Ria Percival and Kerys Harrop in the team’s control group.
