Jurgen Klopp accepts new Liverpool role to work in the club’s ‘best department’

Jurgen Klopp has accepted a new role at Liverpool and his legacy and association with the club will extend far beyond his reign as manager.

Klopp, 57, ended his nine-year spell in charge of Liverpool at the end of last season. The legendary German thought it was the right time to take a sabbatical, and Liverpool eventually turned to Dutchman Arne Slot to succeed him.

Klopp has already secured an official offer to return to management. The US team has been pushing for Klopp to upgrade the recently fired Gregg Berhalter.

However, Klopp is said to have turned down the chance to lead the USMNT ahead of a World Cup at home in 2026.

On the other hand, the hypothesis that he could succeed Julian Nagelsmann as leader of Germany continues to circulate.

Either way, Klopp’s links with Liverpool will continue beyond his tenure as manager and the task he takes on next.

Liverpool have officially shown that Klopp has accepted the Club’s first honorary ambassador to the LFC Foundation.

The LFC Foundation is the club’s official charity that works tirelessly for the fortunes and daily customers of the people of Liverpool and the surrounding area.

Klopp has long been associated with the LFC Foundation and in the past has said the charity is the club’s “best department”.

His many past engagements include welcoming visitors to the AXA Training Centre, fundraising events and public speaking to raise awareness of the foundation.

Speaking after accepting the position, Klopp said: “The LFC Foundation works in the community, whether in the Liverpool City region and beyond.

“I am proud to continue working with them and to be named the first honorary ambassador of the LFC Foundation.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do with this now that I have more free time. “

Matt Parish, Executive Director of the LFC Foundation, added: “We are very pleased that Jurgen will continue with the Foundation as its first Honorary Ambassador.

“Having him has been invaluable to us over the years and for this to continue is fantastic and underlines his commitment to the Foundation and the paintings we continue to make in the Liverpool city area.

“Jürgen’s love and fondness for the city has been evident during his time at the club and we can only benefit from his help and voice to champion the work we are doing in the future. “
