Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been putting his players through their paces ahead of their upcoming Premier League game on Saturday.
The Reds host Burnley at 15:00 at Anfield, and the Liverpool manager has had to deal with a crisis among his charges.
This week, Liverpool will be without Thiago Alcantara and Dominik Szoboszlai through injury, while Ibrahima Konate is suspended and Conor Bradley is out out on compassion.
This quartet was joined by Kostas Tsimikas, Mohamed Salah, Stefan Bajcetic and Joel Matip on the sidelines.
In addition, Klopp admitted to the Liverpool media on Friday that “there is a little flu” circulating among the Reds’ squad.
On Thursday, the Reds released photos from their last educational visit of the time, and several academy players were seen alongside the seniors.
One of them was Jayden Danns, who has surely been in form for youth teams this season.
The 18-year-old striker has 16 goals and two assists in 15 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup, Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.
As per the Liverpool website, Danns is a ‘versatile player’ who can play in attack and midfield.
He is the son of Neil Danns, who had a successful career in the Football League as a midfielder. The 41-year-old also played foreign football for Guyana.
Neil Jones recently published an exploratory report on Danns, comparing his taste in the game to that of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
It’s smart to see the most productive of the most productive get a chance in first-team training, and Danns is indeed making an academic call.
If all goes well, we may well see him get a few minutes between now and the end of the season. Then he could feature in pre-season and get an EFL loan next term at the very least.
