A round-up of the latest Liverpool news as Jurgen Klopp makes a request for his final game at Anfield and the Reds begin to take an interest in Ruben Amorim’s imaginable backroom staff.
Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister has admitted that losing the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Atalanta BC “doesn’t feel right”. The Reds now have a mountain to climb when they visit Bergamo next Thursday after losing 3-0 at Anfield this week.
Darwin Nunez’s waste in the box came home and took a heavy toll on Jurgen Klopp’s side. Goals from Gianluca Scamacca (38′, 60′) and Mario Pasalic (83′) gave Atalanta a great chance against Liverpool. It was the Reds’ toughest loss so far this season and their sixth loss.
Mac Allister now admits that the mood within the Liverpool squad began to worsen after the defeat to Atalanta. This continued in the dressing room as well, with all the players feeling depressed about the result. The midfielder also admits that Atalanta were right to thwart Liverpool.
“There wasn’t much to say, I think we all feel the same way,” he told Liverpool’s website. “I didn’t feel smart in the match and I didn’t feel smart afterwards. It’s as undeniable as that.
“We couldn’t do what we were looking for [and] what we know. It’s also a credit to them, [since] they played a smart game.

Liverpool could also sign a member of Ruben Amorim’s team, Hugo Viana, if the Sporting CP manager now replaces Jurgen Klopp. According to Pedro Sepulveda, Viana will surely remain at the Jose Alvalade Stadium if Amorim leaves the club.

Amorim is among the leading candidates for succession at Anfield after Klopp announced the German’s resignation after just nine years in charge. Therefore, Liverpool are now exploring the option of signing Viana as well. But Newcastle United now also have their eyes on Viana.
Viana has been running for Sporting’s director of football since September 2018, after learning her trade at Os Belenenses. It also marked a return to the Leoes for the 41-year-old, having played for the club from 1998 to 2002, when Sporting Product moved to Newcastle.
Sepulveda suggests what role Viana would play in Amorim’s future squad with Liverpool. The Reds announced the appointment of AFC Bournemouth manager Richard Hughes as sporting director in March. He will take up his post this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has now asked Liverpool to arrange German punk rock band Die Toten Hosen to play their final game at Anfield. The 56-year-old will oversee his final home game when the Reds host Wolves on the final day of the 2023/24 Premier League. League season on May 19.
Although a Beatles song would be an “easy” choice, Klopp points out that some other organizations also use their music. He would like the Reds to host the performance of Die Toten Hosen, as he has a special connection with the organization. after winning the Bundesliga at Borussia Dortmund.
“A living band is Die Toten Hosen, the translation is ‘The Dead Pants’,” Klopp told Sky News. “It’s a punk rock band.
“The lead singer, Campino, is a smart friend of mine and the biggest LFC fan on the planet. In fact, if they could sing at Anfield or anywhere else, it would be the happiest day of their lives.
“The song I like the most is a song that came out in 2012, when we won the double with Dortmund. The title of the song is “Tage wie diese”, “Days like this”. It was like it was made for us. On days like this, anything is imaginable and that sort of thing.
