Juventus are looking for a formula to sign Carlos Alcaraz permanently from Southampton

Juventus are reportedly intent on keeping Carlos Alcaraz in their ranks beyond his loan.

The Bianconeri signed the Argentine from Southampton in January to bolster their midfield.

He arrived on loan for €3. 7 million with a purchase at the end of the season set at €49. 5 million.

However, the Serie A giants plan to impose that silhouette on a player who has yet to prove his potential.

Since his arrival in Turin, the 21-year-old has made three appearances off the bench before making his full debut against Napoli. However, an injury ruled him out of the next two games against Atalanta and Genoa.

But according to Calciomercato, Juventus would like to keep Alcaraz permanently.

As the source explains, the Bianconeri never intended to activate their option to buy on existing terms, but were willing to institute a hefty buyout payment to complete the deal as they were desperate to bring a new midfielder into the fold.

Juve will have to renegotiate new terms with Southampton this summer to keep the young Argentine in Continassa.

The report also highlights how Juventus’ director of football, Cristiano Giuntoli, had in the past tried to sign Alcaraz in 2022 when he was Napoli’s sporting director.

This operation was blocked through the club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, who was not willing to pay the player’s price.

No way. Pay or pay it back.
