Juventus midfielder Carlos Alcaraz could be back in action a little quicker than expected.
The 21-year-old joined the club in January, completing a loan deal from Southampton.
After making 3 appearances as a substitute, the Argentine made his full debut for Juventus in the 2-1 defeat to Napoli.
Subsequently, the youngster suffered a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the matches against Atalanta and Genoa, ending in a draw.
But as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport via JuventusNews24, the midfielder’s condition is improving and it is possible that he will soon be able to return to the pitch.
The pink newspaper believes that Alcaraz could be available to Max Allegri for the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals against Lazio.
The match will take place at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Tuesday, April 2.
The two teams will meet in a league match three days earlier at the Olympic Stadium. However, it is unlikely that Alcaraz will be fit in time for this one.
However, coming back for the cup would be a major boost for Allegri’s ranks.
The Bianconeri now see the Coppa Italia as a goal, as winning the tournament would give the club its first trophy in three years.
For his part, Alcaraz will be keen to prove his worth in the latter part of the season.
The Italian giants have the option to acquire him this summer for €50 million, but they are not aiming to reach that maximum figure.
