Juventus lead the race for the Bologna star who will remain in Serie A

Juventus have reportedly made progress in signing Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.

The 21-year-old is a young product of Roma who spent last season at Basel before returning to Italy at Bologna.

The youngster was originally a left-back, but became a centre-back under the tutelage of Thiago Motta. It’s one of the most productive revelations of the Serie A campaign.

Thanks to this, the Italian has aroused the interest of a multitude of suitors inside and outside the country, with Juventus being the leader.

According to Tuttosport IlBianconero, the Turin giants have already started talks with the player’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, taking vital steps in the right direction.

The Bianconeri have known Calafiori as the ideal left-footed finisher to update Alex Sandro, who will eventually leave the club once his contract expires at the end of the season.

As he explains, the young Bologna star also has fans at Tottenham Hotspur and Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Calafiori prefers to be on the Italian peninsula, which will be key in favor of Juventus, the favorite in the race.

Perhaps he will be reunited with Motta, who has Juve’s leading candidate to update Max Allegri next season.

Roma’s home side have made 27 Serie A appearances this season, providing 4 assists. His contract with Bologna is valid until the summer of 2027.
