Maurizio Sarri believes that ‘a little concern can do us good’ after watching Juventus prepare for their Champions League match against Lyon by losing 3–1 to Roma on the final weekend of the Serie A season.
La Juve has noticed that an unbeaten 39 home-game winning streak in the league since April 2018 came to an end when Diego Perotti scored twice after preparing Nikola Kalinic to cancel Gonzalo Higuaín’s first game at Allianz Stadium.
The bianconeri have been crowned champions for the ninth consecutive season after winning two of their last 8 league games, and head coach Sarri admitted that his team had mentally lost after beating Lazio on 20 July.
Sarri acknowledges that Juve faces a complicated task against a Lyon team that won the first leg of their 16-0 clash before the coronavirus pandemic ended the playoff, but believes their recent fights may end in focus.
“A little worry can do us good. After Lazio, we felt that the championship won and that we had an intellectual decline,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.
“Now we have to be to get the attention of an opponent. We’ll start from 1-0 [down] and it’ll be very complicated in those conditions.
On Friday, Lyon played his first competitive match since March due to The Choice of Ligue 1 to end the rest of the crusade in the midst of the fitness crisis.
The sadness ended with Paris Saint-Germain’s victory in the aftermath of winning the final league cup final, but Sarri was inspired by Lyon’s competitiveness.
“I was surprised that they were very physically intelligent. It doesn’t look like a team that hasn’t played in a long time,” he added.
“We have to be in mental rejuvenation. The physicist recovers in two or three days. We unplug the plug for a few days and from Monday we will have to be there to recover.”
Paulo Dybala is absent from the Juve against Roma while suffering a challenge in the thigh and Sarri says the Argentine striker will be heavily monitored in training.
“Paulo’s doing pretty well. Tomorrow we’ll see him to take him to the court and see the reactions,” he said.
