Juventus midfielder Joseph Nonge takes “full responsibility” for causing a penalty against Napoli last night and thanks the fans and his Bianconeri teammates for their “support”.
The 18-year-old Belgian midfielder came on as a substitute in the 76th minute of Juventus’ away game against Napoli on Sunday, but fouled Victor Osimhen minutes after the Old Lady’s equaliser. The Nigerian missed the penalty, but Giacomo Raspadori scored on the rebound. .
Eyebrows were raised when Massimiliano Allegri brought on Nonge in the minute, introducing Danilo.
Nonge apologised to fans and his Juventus teammates on Instagram on Monday morning.
“I made a mistake, I take full responsibility, I’m sorry for my teammates and fans, thank you for your support, it’s time to reset and maintain the goal at the end of the season,” the Juventus midfielder wrote.
The 18-year-old made his Serie A debut in January in a 2-1 away win over Salernitana. He has made four senior appearances for Juventus.
Nonge has one goal and one assist in 11 appearances in all competitions for Juventus NextGen, the Bianconeri’s second team in Italy’s Serie C.
Nonge joined Juventus’ reserve team from Anderlecht U18 in 2021.
