TURIN, Italy (AP) — Juventus overcame an early mistake and came back from a goal down to beat last-place Salernitana 6-1 on Thursday night to reach the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia.
The Bianconeri will face Frosinone this week.
A errant pass from Juventus defender Federico Gatti set up a goal for Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi in the 59th minute.
The Bianconeri responded with goals from Fabio Miretti, Andrea Cambiaso, Daniele Rugani, Kenan Yildiz and Timothy Weah, as well as an own goal from Salernita defender Dylan Bronn.
Federico Chiesa scored two of Juventus’ goals, and it was the first Juventus goal for Weah, the American winger son of former AC Milan player and Ballon d’Or winner George Weah.
Salernitana are coached by former Juventus striker Filippo Inzaghi.
The last 8 meetings are: Fiorentina v Bologna; Lazio-Rome; and Milan opposed Atalanta.
Frosinone eliminated Serie A champion Napoli 4-0 a month.
Juventus, which is two-time league leader Inter Milan, has scored six goals for the first time at a festival since its 7-0 win over Sassuolo in Serie A in February 2018.
Juventus faces Salernitana again in Serie A on Sunday.
