Juventus trail Inter in the race for the Serie A striker

Inter are reportedly leading the race to sign Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson, leaving Juventus in the rearview mirror.

The 26-year-old has proven to be one of the top players technically in Serie A this season.

His exploits played a major role in Grifone’s campaign, putting the newly promoted club in the comfortable middle of the table, far from relegation.

The Icelandic star also showcased his brilliant skills on his foreign serve, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Israel in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 qualifying.

But while Juventus have emerged as a contender, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via IlBianconero) shows that Inter have been more determined, positioning themselves as favourites to sign Gudmundsson this summer.

The Nerazzurri are looking to strengthen their attacking department, as Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic have failed to show that they are capable of competently replacing Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

For its part, Genoa expects to obtain at least 30 million euros from the operation.

The source claims that Inter will be looking to mirror Davide Frattesi’s move from last summer, i. e. signing the player on loan with legal responsibility for the purchase.

They could also tempt the Ligurian club with the signing of Argentine teenager Valentin Carboni, who has recently been on loan at Monza.

Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Juventus will try to catch up on that front.

However, the Bianconeri already have a player with similar characteristics in Kenan Yildiz user.

I’ve seen this guy play and I don’t see him gambling constantly. Looking at his latest stats in Genoa, you’ll see what I mean. Scoring a hat-trick against Israel, with 2 goals after a red card, is nothing to be proud of. Israel has been one of the weakest teams. We are Juventus, we want players of the calibre of Koopmeiners, not Gudmundston like
