Royal is the region’s survivor when it comes to the top state school football playoffs.
The Knights, who are set to win a fourth straight Class 1A championship, jumped out against Seton Catholic from the dominance of No. 12 Vancouver with a 28-0 lead after one quarter and never looked back with a 42-0 victory in Saturday’s semifinal.
The top-seeded Royal led quarterback Lance Allred, who rushed for 3 touchdowns.
Teammate Ethan Ellis added 153 yards and two touchdowns.
It’s the Knights’ third straight shutout of the tournament.
Royal now faces No. 2 seed Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls in the 1A state name match, scheduled for 3 p. m. on Friday, Dec. 1 at Husky Stadium.
▪ Kamiakin’s remarkable streak came to an end Saturday at the hands of No. 2 Lake Stevens, who beat the Braves 48-7 in the Class 4A semifinals.
Kamiakin finished the season with a 10–3 record.
The Vikings proved too strong, taking a 41-0 lead at halftime and never returning.
Lake Stevens, the 4A state champion, led through quarterback Kolten Matson, who finished 19 of 21 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns.
The Braves simply couldn’t get an offense going in the first half, scoring just 84.
Kamiakin quarterback Trent Woodhouse finished with 121 passing yards, while Robert Julima had 2 passes for 37 yards.
Camden Schmidt rushed 11 times for 34 yards and scored the Braves’ game-winning touchdown on a 1-yard run.
Here are the final scores from all the games of the state semifinals:

What it also tells me is that the national playoff qualification committees have done their homework correctly. Each number one seed made it to the final.
What’s even more impressive is that the top two seeds in five of the six rankings made it to the final.
Only No. 6 Bellevue made it past the complex and into the 3A final.
River View governed the Eastern Division of the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference 2B this fall before going 0-2 in the state tournament in Yakima.
But the EWAC coaches knew the Panthers had a lot and voted Marina Jimenez the conference’s player of the year.
River View’s Allyson Stanley named coach of the year, and Jimenez joins the first team via Panthers teammates Hailey Huston, senior and junior Aliyah Maloine.
Warden had two first-team votes, senior Lauryn Madsen and junior Genesis Ozuna. As did Walla Walla Valley Academy, with junior Kienna Stepper and senior Clara Scully.
Tri-Cities Prep junior Ava Douglas is also on the first team.
