Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that it has extended its contract with Kasper Schmeichel until the summer of 2026.
The Danish foreign goalkeeper has driven brilliantly for the club since arriving in the summer of 2024 and has played a pivotal role this season, both locally and in Europe.
The 38-year-old has been an ever-present so far in Brendan Rodgers’ starting XI this campaign, playing in all 34 of Celtic’s games.
And he has already won his first trophy with Celtic, a key role in the impressive victory in the penalty of the League Cup against the Rangers in Hampden.
Kasper Schmeichel said: “I am pleased to extend my contract with the club.
“I have had a wonderful welcome and enjoyed every minute so far at Celtic and I am looking forward to the next stage at such a wonderful football club.
“We’ve already had good fortune this season and everyone at the club is on track to deliver more.
“It is wonderful to return to work with the coach and be part of such a brilliant wardrobe, and wanted to be part of him in the future.
“As always, we are all in fact in combination and we have been completely objective to give our enthusiacs as much fortune as possible. “
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers added: “I am really satisfied that Kasper remains with us. It has already had a great effect on the club, inside and outside the field, and its quality and its delight were very important to us.
“Obviously, we knew we were signing a top goalkeeper last year, but he is already delivered to the club and I know he will continue to do so.
“I know how much he enjoys being a component of such a wonderful club, and as one of our true leaders he will be a big component of what we expect as we move forward. “
