Goalkeeper Kelle Roos has warned there can be no more bad stories for Aberdeen as they prepare to fly to Finland following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Rangers.
The Dons will face HJK Helsinki in the Finnish capital on Thursday in Group G of the Europa Conference League.
Dutch stopper Roos was left frustrated after a dramatic late penalty following a VAR review denied the Dons a Pittodrie win against the Gers.
Aberdeen were leading 1-0 after the regulation 90 minutes until the controversial late spot-kick was awarded and converted.
For Roos, there have been too many incidents of “ifs and buts” this season where the Reds have felt regret at not securing a win they deserved.
Aberdeen led 2-0 against Group G leaders PAOK in the Europa Conference League with 17 minutes remaining, but lost 3-2.
The Dons’ hopes of qualifying for the European Championship are over.
Roos believes that groups are capable of winning without regrets.
And for the 31-year-old who opposed HJK Helsinki.
He said: “We want to avoid talking about ifs and buts. And we may have done that. “
“We have to get what we deserve in the games.
“The thing if you perform in the most sensible way in sports is that you have to be in order to get what you deserve from the games. “
Aberdeen are on course for back-to-back league wins over Rangers for the first time since 1993.
However, a penalty was awarded by referee Nick Walsh following a VAR review for a slight tug on Connor Goldson’s shirt by Stefan Gartenmann.
Roos said: “We kept the plan in mind and got the ball out of the crowded areas.
“We used our energy to press, cause problems, win balls and try to turn them over.
“We also created some great ones and gave everyone the confidence that those would be all the ingredients for a wonderful day.
“My defenders also had great performances.
“So we’re very frustrated that we conceded something so late in the game.
“They had to come up with something special, so it’s painful to do it like that. “
After a VAR review, referee Nick Walsh pointed to the point: Tavernier made no mistake and made it 1-1. What do you think of a few crazy football minutes? ? pic. twitter. com/rD6Xxiic0z

Aberdeen led 1-0 at the start of stoppage time when the penalty was awarded following a VAR review.
Immediately after the match, Aberdeen manager Barry Robson was frustrated by a block on Gartenmann, the penalty incident that was not detected by the VAR review.
Roos feels the frustration.
He said: “Another question I have is, for example, if it’s a foul, why are you still allowed to block others without intending to win the ball back?
“It happens at every corner – every team does it.
“People use sunscreens to sit still and get in the way of others, but that’s OK.
“It is just very blurry, which is probably why it takes so long for VAR and the referee.
“I’ll leave the resolution out of that, but I think it’s a very complicated position.
“Even on a screen, it’s very hard to see what effect it’s having on something – is it minimal or is it a reason to stream?
“It’s a difficult time for us. “
Rangers captain James Tavernier converted the penalty by shooting straight down to beat Roos.
The equaliser was scored four minutes into injury time.
Roos said: “It’s a question.
“Tavernier is what he is. He is a great player for them and he mixes it up a lot
“I tried to look at him like I do, but he lifted it up a little bit and my back leg couldn’t get there. “
Centre-back Gartenmann has inspired since arriving on loan from Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland this summer.
The defender scored the first in a 3-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox in September.
However, he suffered a delay against Gers in Pittodrie, when his blouse imposed a penalty.
Boss Robson recently showed he needs to protect the Danish defender beyond his season-long loan deal.
The 26-year-old has a contract with Midtjylland until the summer of 2025.
Asked how Gartenmann was doing after the penalty, Roos replied: “Stefan is fine. He’s a brilliant professional.
“It’s clear he’s not satisfied, it’s football, but he has the experience of knowing what he wants to do.
“Stefan is exceptional. Everyone fought against him and he probably didn’t deserve it.
