Kelly wins 100, Notre Dame No. 2 beats BC 45-31

BOSTON (AP) – Notre Dame has a record of consecutive victories with disappointments against rival Boston College.

This time, the Irish ended up doing their coach at the expense of the Eagles.

Ian Book had three touchdowns and ran and the Irishman, second-placed, overcathed an early deficit to get a 45-31 win over British Columbia on Saturday.

Fighting Irish’s eighth consecutive victory in the series between FBS Catholic establishments gave coach Brian Kelly the 100th win of his school career, tying him with Lou Holtz for the all-time position. He’s only five years as coach Knute Rockne.

“One hundred victories. I’m going to say it’s been a hundred years. But it’s not something I spend time thinking about. I’ll do it when I don’t exercise anymore,” Kelly said. That means I’ve had a lot of smart players, a lot of smart coaches. I’m lucky enough to be at Notre Dame for so long. It’s not easy to win so many games at Notre Dame.

Coming from an exciting victory at then No. 1 Clemson, Notre Dame (8-0, 7-0 ACC) amassed 561 total yards in British Columbia.

The last time Notre Dame beat a top-ranked team in 1993, and the following week, the Fighting Irish were disappointed through British Columbia in a basket in the last second.

Book to make sure there will be no disappointment. He finished 20 of 27 for 283 yards and ran for 85 yards. His last two games have been as smart as he has played in his three seasons as a starter with Notre Dame.

“He knew more for me. I knew I could take it a step further,” he said. It’s starting to accumulate and I think I’m just looking to take it to the next level. . . I think I’m emerging at the right time. “

Ben Skowronek caught Book’s 3 TD passes, and also had one of Notre Dame’s three getaways that day. C’Bo Flemister ran for two touchdowns before leaving the game in the last quarter with an obvious left leg injury.

Phil Jurkovec, a Notre Dame move opposed to his former team for the first time, finished 18th with 40 for 272 yards with a landing and interception for Boston College (5-4, 4-4).

Jurkovec said he suffered the aftermath of a separate projection shoulder he suffered in front of Clemson two weeks ago. His pitches were limited before Syrcause’s game last week and he admitted that his arm is not yet at 100%.

“I looked for him, ” he says. ” It was a game we had changed on the calendar. It was very disappointing to lose him.

The Eagles held out in the first half, recovering two Notre Dame getaways, but scored six bug problems.

His defense also had few answers for Book, who took advantage of the Irish catcher’s game duration to produce five passes of 20 yards or more.

The Eagles took a 10-3 lead in the first quarter and the Irish beat them 28-6 the rest of the first half.

Boston College had the chance to cut a 24-16 deficit due at the time of the fourth after Kryen Williams of Notre Dame escaped after a coup through British Columbia’s Chibueze Onwuka. The ball was recovered through Isaiah McDuffie in the Irish 42.

But BC returned it three times later when middle alec Lindstrom broke the ball before Jurkovec waited for him. He picked up through Notre Dame Daelin Hayes’ defensive header at eagles 49 with 2:05 for playing in the fourth.

Notre Dame moved temporarily and Book connected with Skowronek for the third time in the middle, this time at 7 meters, to make the 31-16.

TAKE-OFF

Notre Dame: The Irish have strayed from sadness after the Tigers’ jolt last week and continue to show that they can score problems in groups and are not affected by deficits. This helps keep them in the right position to get to the CCA naming game and advance to school football playoffs.

Boston College: The Eagles have had times when they can build, just as they did when they took Clemson to the breaking point last month, but were forced to score too many times in the red zone. It’s anything you want to replace if you make it, you’re going to break up with freshman coach Jeff Hafley.

INJURY UPDATES

Kelly said Flemister’s injury didn’t look serious.

“I was pretty disappointed in terms of ankle, knee, leg,” Kelly said. “But our initial assessment of him is nothing to cause great concern.

Williams also resisted after twisting his shoulder on a loose ball in the quarter of a moment, but Kelly said it as a precaution.
