After the Boston Celtics had their first practice since the final after a series of COVID-19 tests and the resulting touch search forced the team to postpone several games last week, head coach Brad Stevens and game creator Kemba Walker spoke to the media on Thursday.
The two men talked about a number of topics ranging from the tumultuous occasions of the last few days to the fitness of Jayson Tatum and Robert Williams III. Walker’s return to action, a key point of interest for both the press, with former chef Butler and the UConn product either asking a series of questions about his condition.
“He was able to continue his rehabilitation one by one, and his reinforcement is fantastic,” Stevens said of Walker’s activities in recent days, where educational facilities closed almost as soon as it cleared.
“He did a lot of work. He left with all his might today for an hour with us; we didn’t go live, but we did a lot back and forth, we tried a lot to get our legs back and forth somehow with the boys. “who haven’t done anything for a week. And it looked bad. What it means in terms of the next steps, the game, the time to play and everything else, is a resolution for Kemba and our educational team. I think they’ve gone through putting an amazing plan in position to be honest.
“When you get back, you’ll be ready and feel good,” he added.
Walker, still sweating after an hour’s training, under pressure for the attention he and education were giving to the rehabilitation procedure and the time it took to make sure it was a success.
“I’ll take the most productive resolution for me, ” he began.
“Honestly, I feel pretty smart right now. And I said I felt smart the last time before the bubble, which was. But the time and period have not been favorable to me. But now I feel smart and what I feel now is different from what I felt before I entered the bubble. Now I was able to take my time, I’m attacking my rehab. From day one I sought to be healthy.
I need to stay healthy, do my best productivity and not suffer setbacks, so that’s the plan,” Walker said. Whenever I feel smart and every time I’m mentally in a position to pass out and feel comfortable, it will be. “
