Kieran Tierney: Celtic is exploring the return of Arsenal and the left side of Scotland that joined the Gunners in 2019

Celtic are a move for Arsenal left-winger Kieran Tierney next month.

Sky Sports News understands that the hoops are exploring a pre-contract and the loan is offered for Scotland International.

Arsenal are expected to pay attention to Tierney in the January move window, the club is not expected to cause the one-year extension on his deal.

There is no agreement on a new contract for the left back of Celta Greg Taylor, his contract to expire this summer.

Celtic also have Barcelona left-back Alex Valle on a season-long loan deal.

A number of clubs across Europe are also said to be interested in Tierney, who Arsenal signed from Celtic in 2019 in a deal worth around £25m.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has refused to say whether he is contemplating bringing Tierney to Celtic, describing the Scotland and Arsenal left-back as “one of us”.

“Yes, we’ll be connected to the most productive players and in components to the players who are components of us,” Rodgers said.

“Kieran was instrumental in a successful ERA when I was here, and his talent led him to take on some other challenge in the Premier League.

“So, yeah, we’ll be linked with lots of names, Kieran obviously, naturally because of his situation. But for us, we’ll only ever tell you when we sign a player, once he’s signed.”

Tierney made more than 170 appearances for Celtic and won five titles of Scottish Premium its remains in the club.

Addressing The Currie Club podcast with Darrell Currie in 2022, Tierney ruled out a return to Celtic.

“I think when a player who loves the club leaves, there’s always that, ‘what if he comes back’, and you can’t rule anything out,” he said.

“I’m going to love Celtic, I’m going to help Celtic, so in football you never know.
