Overturned tents, empty chairs and trash remained scattered along the Arlington Football Association box in the morning after a shooting killed a man and wounded a 7-year-old boy in what Jacksonville police called an attack on a youth game.
Investigators told First Coast News, a news partner, that those affected were father and son.
On Monday, across Macy Avenue from the countryside, a mother sat with her children at a bus stop next to Arlington Heights Elementary School, surprised to be informed of the shooting just thirteen hours earlier.
Saying it would possibly be time to locate another bus stop, the young mother was not aware of Sunday’s butcher’s shop, football game or other fatal shots east and west of there this weekend in Arlington.
“I find it very sad. Let’s be honest, it’s very, very sad,” she said. “All in the same week? It has to stop. “

Eyewitnesses shed tears on the association’s family fanatic’s Facebook site, with a woguy saying his nephew was betting “and had to run for his life. “One man wrote that “it’s a shame that those little kids can’t even enjoy football betting. “And someone else said he had some young men as they looked at them in horror.
“My grandchildren just saw a child and a dwindler on the road bleeding,” he wrote. “I brought tears to their eyes as I heard them scream and cry, they don’t need to die. “
Those affected on Sunday night were with a giant organization of other people watching the game when a gray or silver game app vehicle stopped near where they were sitting. The masked gunman was pulled from the back of the vehicle and shot at those affected. It doesn’t appear to be random violence, police said.
Both were taken to hospital, but the 27-year-old died. Police said the 7-year-old boy recovered.
That follows a weekend of violence in the Arlington community that included a Sunday morning shooting that wounded a woguy on the 1100th block of Arco Drive, the same community where a 20-year-old boy was killed on Saturday. The old man was spoted shot dead around 7:30 p. m. at Saturday’s outlets at Regency Park Mall at 9400 Atlantic Boulevard, police said.
Saying she was “mortified” by the most recent atrocity, city councillor Joyce Morgan said that perhaps something like this could not happen at a youth football game, as she expressed sympathy for the families of the victims. spoke to the police commander about “what he wants to happen” to prevent tragedies like this, as well as other fatal shootings over the weekend in other parts of Arlington.
“How can we ensure the protection of our young people?And it’s a general lack of respect for the life we see, and we see it intensify,” Morgan said. “This is absolutely unacceptable. There’s something going on there. . . . It’s bad enough, but when you hit our little kids, young people and families like that without blame just for your son’s football game, can’t we keep tolerating that?
Police said if any of the shootings were linked, but Morgan said they were wondering about the shooting. The counselor also asked if the deal had hired an off-duty officer for the game. Association officials responded to a request for comment.

Agents were called to Charles “Boobie” Clark Park at 8793 Sibbald Road after a 12-year-old boy on a basketball court shot in the leg. One witness said three gunmen in a vehicle had even reloaded by firing several shots, with dozens of minutes later, a 34-year-old woman went through one of the many bullets fired from the same car at Yancey Park at 3352 Soutel Drive.
The shootings led the sheriff to increase police presence in several parks.
