Know Your Enemy – Talk about Red Wolves with AStateNation

Georgia State Football first takes to the road in 2020 and faces a talented Arkansas State team on national television Thursday night in Jonesboro. We met with Jeff Reed from our sister site AStateNation. com to see a preview of the game.

PantherTalk: The first 4 games for Arkansas State seem to be a bit like a roller coaster. The big win at Kansas State followed the losses to Memphis and Coastal Carolina. What do you think of the reasons for the rocky road?

JR: First of all, it’s a very smart calendar. Memphis is smart, K-State is 3-1. I think Coastal has made the leap and has a very talented QB and UCA is a forged and more sensitive point FCS. He played well against K-State and UCA and was in fact unlucky in front of Coastal because they couldn’t get off the field. This game is crucial. They can’t go past 0-2 and face a vacation in App to stay in the departmental race.

PantherTalk: The Red Wolves have resumed where they left off offensively, even with the loss of incredibly talented WR Omar Bayless. Did open receiver Jonathan Adams simply eclipse through Bayless or have you noticed that you’ve taken it to some other point so far?Season?

JR: Adams might have lived in the shadows, but there was also Kirk Merritt (Miami Dolphins). He had his moments, like catching the winning landing at the Bowl. And now he’s six feet five inches Dahu Green, an Oklahoma move, on the other side. Another difficult combo.

PantherTalk: Head coach Blake Anderson and the attacker have used two quarterbacks this year and overall the effects have been pretty clever so far in my opinion. What have you noticed about Logan Bonner and Layne Hatcher and think the rotation will keep moving forward?

JR: I think it’s left until there’s a sign that it’s bad for the team. He went to series of one and the other. Both have had their moments and neither has the team to succeed.

PantherTalk: Defensively, ASU had some difficulties.

JR: Yes. First piece: Coastal Carolina, With an eskivo quarterback, the Chants simply played outside and changed in too many third attempts. Over the past two seasons, moving quarterbacks have been a challenge and the Panthers have one of their own.

PantherTalk: A of our message forums: What do you think is the biggest impediment to the state of Arkansas on Thursday night in this game?

JR: I think the Red Wolves will score, and I think Georgia State will, too. It’s about defense, ball losses and special groups. The defense has had problems and panels have one or two operations consistent with the game. Difference.
