Vincent Kompany has retired from the game and has been appointed full-time coach of Anderlecht for the next 4 years.
Kompany Anderlecht player-coach in May 2019 after leaving Manchester City.
“I want to have a full interaction in my coaching role and wish 100 percent of my time and focus on that,” Kompany told the Club website Anderlecht.
“That’s why I give up as a footballer.”
Kompany, 34, added: “Our ambition and hunger are the same.
“I need to stay at the club for at least 4 seasons and it turn out that Anderlecht can play a fashionable football taste, with results. I need to thank Franky (co-coach Frank Vercauteren) for all his help.
Karel Van Eetvelt, CEO of Anderlecht, added: “As you all know, this has been the plan.
“It may have happened a little earlier than expected, however, Vincent signing up for 4 more seasons at the club is wonderful news for the club, our enthusiasts and our players.”
