Tsimikas described Gakpo as a “player” and how the addition of goals to his game made him a “better player” for the Reds.
The Liverpool defender also praised Gakpo for toughness, whether in attack and at the back when needed.
“He’s a player and a player,” Tsimikas told Liverpool’s website.
“He showed me from the moment he arrived here in the special he is and how he can put his frame [in], very strong, very fast.
“Now with the many goals he puts in, I think he’s a top player for the team.
“He’s still a hard worker. Even in attack, even in defense, he is still there for the team to reach our goals and, of course, to score the goals for the team.
“I’m really, really happy for him. We are really close and I hope [for] more goals for him because he absolutely deserves it.”
Ryan Gravenberch admitted that Cody Gakpo is his friend in Liverpool while naming Virgil Van Dijk as one of his closest friends.
As Klopp has been for Liverpool over the years, there were several players who struggled to adapt under the talisman German coach.
Gakpo was one of the players, along with Gravenberc and Luis Diaz, but all 3 arrived here with giant strides under the slot.
One of the main reasons for Gakpo’s upturn in form is due to a simple tactical change – he’s now playing almost exclusively on the left side of attack.
In fact, all of Gakpo’s goals and assists this season came here from the left wing, where he played for PSV Eindhoven.
