Toronto Raptors’ gunbase Kyle Lowry said players had “seriously considered” abandoning the Walt Disney World bubble if the league, homeowners and groups disagreed with their social justice initiatives.
“It’s a very, very serious consideration,” Lowry said, according to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.
“I think we (the Raptors and other NBA players) were seriously considering leaving,” he explained, per Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports. “I think that would have been in serious consideration [if not for the initiatives that the NBA and NBPA committed to].”
The NBA and its Players Association released a set on Friday outlining the various efforts the two sides will undertake during the ongoing fight against systemic racism and police brutality.
