Kylian Mbappe has given Liverpool fans more explanations as to why to expect a sensational move for the French star. With his contract with PSG this summer, Mbappe will almost certainly leave with Real Madrid perceived as favourites to sign him after a long search.
The Ligue 1 champions were keen to let Mbappe leave this summer to recoup at least some of the £156m they paid Monaco in 2018, but the 25-year-old decided to spend his big contract with the Parisian club.
Real have been pushing for a pre-contract deal with Mbappe, with the aim of reaching an agreement before the summer moving window. But for now, the 2018 World Cup winner has accepted a change, a progression that brings hope to the Reds.
And according to journalist Julien Laurens, the forward is still open to a move to England. He’s previously made no secret of his admiration for the Merseyside club, a notion cited by Laurens.
On his podcast, Laurens said that although Real Madrid are leading the race, Mbappe has long been an admirer of Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp and does not rule out a move to the Premier League. His mother, Fayza Lamari, who plays an influential role in her son’s off-field management, is also a passionate supporter of Klopp’s team.
But any potential deal may simply hinge on Mo Salah, who is expected to attract Saudi Arabia’s interest this summer. Mbappe’s current annual salary of £62 million is more than triple Salah’s salary, the club’s salary.
Therefore, Salah would possibly want to move to the Middle East to fund any move by Mbappe. In fact, it turns out that the club can also negotiate the registration of the two players.
Earlier this month, after helping PSG win the Champions Trophy with a 2-0 win over Toulouse, Mbappe was enigmatic about his future, saying: “I haven’t made my decision. I didn’t make a decision.
“But in any case, with the agreement I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision is, we control all parties. And to maintain the serenity of the club for the demanding situations that lie ahead. When will I decide? I don’t know. “
