Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has refused to meet Al Hilal officials, dealing a potentially fatal blow to the Saudis’ ambitious hopes of setting a world record of three hundred million euros ($332 million).
The French star rejected “any discussion with the reviewers of the Al Hilal club, scheduled in Paris on Wednesday,” reports L’Equipe.
According to the report, a delegation from the Saudi club arrived in Paris to finalize the signing of Brazilian Malcom from Zenit St. Petersburg.
They also sought to loan Mbappe in the French capital.
“This technique will be successful,” L’Equipe added because the 24-year-old’s entourage “rejected any discussion with the representatives of the Saudi club. “
“The captain of Les Bleus never this option,” the report added.
Riyadh-based Al Hilal was allowed to start talks with Mbappe but never expressed interest in joining the developing Saudi league.
Mbappe, 24, is at an impasse with PSG following his resolution not to capture the option of a 12-month extension. Instead, he plans to leave as a loose agent in 2025, when he is expected to sign for Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Al Hilal finalized the signing of Malcolm on a 4-year contract. The 26-year-old winger had played the last 4 seasons at Zenit St. Petersburg.
