Kylian Mbappe and his representatives refused to meet with Al Hilal officials in Paris on Wednesday to discuss an imaginable move from the world record to Saudi Arabia, it was reported.
Mbappe’s club Paris St Germain reportedly allowed the Saudi Pro League side to speak to the French striker on a non-public basis after receiving a written offer of £259 million for the player.
A delegation from Al Hilal would have hoped to sell their loan to Mbappe in Paris while finalizing the signing of Brazilian striker Malcom from Zenit St. Petersburg.
But, according to French sports newspaper L’Equipe, Mbappe and his team refused to take part in talks with the Saudi club and never had that option.
Mbappe’s long career at PSG has been in serious doubt since it emerged in June that he would not make his current contract bigger until 2025, meaning he would be a loose agent next summer and could talk about a pre-contract deal with some other club as early as January.
PSG have shown reports that Mbappe has rejected Al Hilal’s approach, but it is believed that Mbappe has already accepted a loose move to Real Madrid next summer.
Paris resources said the 24-year-old would gain advantages from a 160 million euro (£138 million) signing fee if he terminates his current contract and moves to the Spanish capital in 2024.
