Kyogo believes he didn’t fully celebrate after scoring a lightning strike against Rangers because he thought his shot was offside.

The Japanese hitman was again the hero of the derthrough when his half-volley seconds before half-time gave Brendan Rodgers’ men the lead before the Hoops won 1-0. It was the sixth goal scored by the nervous striker behind fierce rivals Celtc, with the Scottish champions now 4 points ahead of Michael Beale’s men, who finish the day in fourth position in the standings. Kyogo doesn’t hesitate to throw a crazy birthday party after his many memorable goals, but admits he was mute this time.

He was given Connor Goldson and beat Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland outside the box, but his first thought was that he had lost offside. This came after a VAR call overturned a Gers goal for a foul on Celtic’s Gustaf Lagerbielke, but Kyogo was very pleased to see his purpose fulfilled and despite everything he made the difference that day.

He told Celtic TV: “Matt directed the ball, but at first I thought it was offside, so I have to hit it first. I thought about it offside, so I didn’t celebrate it, but it was a goal, so in the end I’m happy. “This goal turns out to be the most productive for me, but getting the win is very important for us, so I have to keep running hard and contributing to the team.
