When in doubt, simply call your franchise.
That’s what the Baltimore Ravens do Sunday before their AFC championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Former franchise stars Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Jonathan Ogden will be at Sunday’s pregame festivities.
Lewis and Reed, two of the defensive players in NFL history, not to mention Ravens history, will be the “Legends of the Game,” while Ogden, arguably the left-handed player in league history, will serve as honorary captain.
Baltimore joined the AFC Championship Game with a 34-10 win over the Houston Texans last weekend. Sunday’s home game will be the first league game the franchise has hosted in history. This is the first convention championship the city of Baltimore has experienced since the Colts resided there in 1971.
The Ravens will try to triumph in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2012, a year in which Ogden, Reed and Lewis won the franchise’s second title. Ogden and Lewis were there to win both championships (they won the 2000 Super Bowl). .
In addition to the return of football stars to the field, Baltimore’s Michael Phelps, the greatest swimmer in history, will throw the ball. A rest exhibit performed through T-Pain will close out the festivities.
In short, Baltimore is doing everything it can to try and get back to the Super Bowl and keep the obvious Chiefs dynasty from coming to a halt.
Baltimore and Kansas City will start the AFC naming game at 3:00 p. m. Sunday Eastern Time.
