Latest COVID-19: Maryland-Michigan state football game cancelled due to coronavirus outbreak

COLLEGE PARK, MD. (WJZ) – University of Maryland Athletics canceled Saturday’s scheduled game opposite Michigan State.

In the more than seven days, 15 student-athletes tested positive for coronavirus. This resulted in a 2. 8% Big Ten check positivity rate. There were also seven positive cases during the same period, resulting in a population positivity rate of 14. 9%.

Anyone you’ve tried now is isolated in a designated space.

Head coach Michael Locksley is among those who tested positive for the virus on Wednesday and is ingingsing at home.

“I’m devastated by our team and our fans,” Locksley said. “This team is ahead of the stakes, competition and expansion we’ve noticed this season. This virus is lately testing our players and coaches, but I’m me – he said we’ll emerge as a more powerful unit to go through this together. As for me, personally, I feel strong, with only minor symptoms. I will continue to run this program in a practical manner and our adaptation arrangements for Indiana will begin immediately.

The game, to be played in College Park, will not be postponed.
