The condition of Elwick Racecourse in Hobart is of particular attention
Tasmanian Guineas can compete in Launceston for the time of a year in a row after the race is still held on Wednesday due to elwick race track conditions in Hobart.
The $100,000 race scheduled to take position last Sunday, but was forced to return to Wednesday’s show after a walk on the track before the competition discovered giant grass caps loosened after repair paints on Strathayr’s new surface.

The resolution to suspend Wednesday’s assembly follows an inspection of the thoroughbred trail through representatives of sneakers and riders, the Tasmanian Racing Club, StrathAyr, Tasracing and the Bureau of Racing Integrity.
The assembly scheduled for Elwick will take place on 24 January.
Tasracing CEO Paul Eriksson said that while the resolution had been difficult, the track represents a $12 million long-term investment of Tasmania’s career and its longevity will have to be guaranteed.
He stated that while the arrangement paintings were a success and the track may have been in a position for tomorrow’s meeting, he agreed not to continue, given the long-term interests of the track.
“We are committed to running with StrathAyr to provide an improved race surface for participants and the community,” he said.
Tasmanian Racing Club president Andrew Scanlon said the club supported the resolution to ensure the track is featured in the most productive situations for the remainder of the carnival.
