Lazio looks at the Boca Juniors defender

Lazio are reportedly turning to a conceivable move in January for Boca Juniors defender Nicolas Valentini, which would send Mario Gila to Frosinone.

The Biancocelesti have been nowhere near as solid this season as last term, conceding 18 goals in 16 Serie A rounds, and are considering reinforcements to resolve the issue.

According to Calciomercato.com, the primary target is 22-year-old Boca Juniors central defender Valentini.

A product of the Boca academy, he started his career as a creative midfielder until he was moved into a deeper role.

This means he is particularly adept at playing out from the back, something that Maurizio Sarri has always wanted from his centre-backs.

Valentini’s contract runs until December 2024 and the clause is set at €10 million, but Lazio are hoping to negotiate a postponement for the January window, having already expressed interest last summer.

In return, Mario Gila is advised to be loaned to Frosinone, who are looking for a new defender.
